Il libro che accompagna la mostra omonima, in corso in Galleria fino al 30 settembre 2020, presenta lavori degli anni Ottanta di 18 artisti. Il testo di Luca Beatrice è un brillante excursus nella weltanschauung del decennio ’80 in Italia; la cronologia artistica di Giulia Beatrice riporta alle tappe culturali più salienti del decennio e della carriera degli artisti in mostra; le biografie, a cura della Galleria Astuni, sono accompagnate da immagini di archivio, con rifermenti alle opere in mostra.

Vado al massimo. Cronache dall’Italia postmoderna, inaugurata subito dopo il confinamento, in momento estremamente delicato per il nostro Paese e per tutti noi, vuole essere un segnale di positività. Come scrive il curatore “il progetto ha dovuto necessariamente cambiare più volte prospettiva: eventi, cronaca, stati d’animo non potevano non condizionarne la poetica e le scelte, però è sempre stato chiaro, per tutti coloro che ci hanno lavorato, che non si vedeva l’ora di ripartire e ripresentarsi al pubblico. La riflessione sugli anni Ottanta, quarant’anni dopo, prende spunto proprio dall’energia sparata al massimo dai venti-trentenni di allora, la voglia di cambiare marcia e imporre una nuova idea di cultura giovane che non a caso ci consegnerà uno dei decenni creativamente più interessanti del secondo novecento”.

The volume, that accompanies the homonymous exhibition, on going at the Gallery until September 30th 2020, shows the work of 18 artists. The text by Luca Beatrice is a brilliant excursus into the weltanschauung of the 1980s in Italy; the art timeline by Giulia Beatrice highlights the most salient cultural stages of the decade and the career’s steps of the artists on display; the biographies, edited by Galleria Astuni, are accompanied by archive images with references to the works on display.

Vado al massimo. Cronache dall’Italia postmoderna, was opened immediately after the lockdown, in an extremely delicate moment for Italy and for all of us, and wants to be a signal of positivity.

As the curator writes “ the exhibition project has been obliged to change its standpoint several times: events, the news and prevailing mood were bound to influence its approach and choices, but it has always been evident to everyone who has worked on it that we were more than eager to recommence and present it to the public. This assessment of the 1980s from a distance of forty years takes its cue from the explosion of energy from the twenty to thirty-year-olds of that time; the desire to change gear and introduce a new idea of youth culture that, not surprisingly, was to bring us one of the most creatively interesting decades of the latter half of the twentieth century”.
