Si rese conto che finalmente le due avevano trovato una chiave per avvicinarsi, anche se solo per pochi istanti. Forse era vero: in quella terrazza le fantasie diventavano realtà. O perlomeno consentivano di tenerla provvisoriamente lontana, la realtà”.*

Fatamorgana è una mostra di lavori che conversano su alcuni aspetti del nostro presente, caratterizzato da una crisi immaginativa sospesa nella divaricazione fra le nostalgie (di diverso segno) del passato e le attese – di volta in volta malinconiche, speranzose, palingenetiche – del futuro. I miraggi, gli effetti magici, le storie di fate e marinai che il titolo evoca spingono a interrogarsi su come il potere – politico, ma non solo – risieda sempre più nell’abilità (istituzionale) di costruire illusioni (A.A.)

Fatamorgana is an exhibition of artworks that speak to certain aspects of our present, characterized by a crisis of imagination suspended in the gap between the nostalgias (of different sign) of the past and the expectations – melancholic, hopeful, palingenetic – of the future. The mirages, the magic effects, the stories of fairies and sailors that the title evokes invite us to wonder about how power –political power, but not only – increasingly resides in the (institutional) ability to build illusions.
